$125 to CC

I can feel the momentum building as I aggressively attack this credit card and bring it to its knees. There is a real sense of POWER when I take control of my money and make IT do what I want, rather than watch it flee my wallet (aka checking account) without regard for me.

I love the feeling of control.

:-)

Mindful spending makes all the difference. Every time I think about spending $, or the opportunity to spend arises, I STOP and THINK. I think about whether having that item is worth not putting that money towards paying off debt. The answer is always NO.

  1. Hi,

Just came across your blog, and saw a lot of myself in your blog. I am trying to find any way possible to make extra money to pay off debt and get my family on track to finanical peace. I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan. I've started mystery shopping, but I am interested in proctoring or the magazine delivery, could you give me more info? There is no Devry or ITT near me. Any other schools you can think og. I am in RI. Thanks

  2. Christine,

Thank you for posting a comment. Reading others' stories inspires me and keeps me going.

There are so many possibilities out there for means of income that fit into your own schedule, as long as you don't have a sense of being 'too good' for certain work.

I stumbled upon the magazine delivery job. The magazine had a small ad in one of their issues (and finding work was on my mind, so I noticed that little ad, called to ask about it, and decided to do it). I also searched Career Builder regularly, and heard about the test proctor job from someone who had known I was looking for some work. (I was actually about to accept a weekend waitressing job when the proctor gig came along.)
Also, check out www.womenforhire.com and you can inquire about legitimate work from home connection (i.e. www.alpineaccess.com). These online recruiting sites screen people for computer/phone work from their homes and farm them out to large companies.

So, put the word out to friends and family. Search all career sites. When you're out there in the world, look at what other people are doing and ask yourself, "Could I do that? Would the work fit into my schedule, or pay well?" When you open your eyes to the possibilities and start thinking about where you can find work, you will see more work opportunities.

As for proctoring, any school that offers non-degree programs like medical assistant, dental assistant, cosmetology, truck driving school, etc. should administer a basic skills test. Check your local yellow pages. Also, find out where they administer other tests like SAT, GRE, etc.

Until you find a well-paying job, take a not-so-well paying job to build momentum, and to get out there and possibly find that better job. You might find that delivering pizzas will earn you more than magazine deliveries because of tips.

I hope some of this helps, and if it doesn't and you'd like me to see what I can find for you, let me know. I enjoy searching the internet, and I like helping people. So, if you need more help, let me know.

Take care, and God bless on your journey to financial freedom!!!
